Image Format Converter
Convert one or more images between JPG, PNG, and WebP — processed locally, nothing uploaded.
Drag images here, or choose files (JPG, PNG, WebP)
Your browser can't encode WebP, so that option is unavailable here.
How to use this tool
- Drag in images, or choose files — JPG, PNG, and WebP inputs are all accepted.
- Pick an output format, and a quality level if converting to JPG or WebP.
- If converting to JPG and your images have transparency, set a fill color.
- Click "Convert," then download each file from the preview grid or as one ZIP.
Privacy
Every image is drawn to an in-browser canvas and re-encoded there — none of it is uploaded.
Limitations
- PNG output is lossless — the quality slider only affects JPG and WebP output.
- WebP output depends on your specific browser's canvas encoder — this page checks and tells you if it isn't available.
- Canvas re-encoding strips embedded metadata (EXIF, color profiles) from the original file.
FAQ
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion happens on an in-browser canvas. No file is sent to LDR Photo Index or any server.
What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?
JPG has no transparency channel, so any transparent area is filled with the background color you choose (white by default) before export. PNG and WebP output keep transparency intact.
Why is WebP output unavailable in my browser?
This tool checks your browser's actual canvas support for WebP export before offering it — a small number of older browsers can decode WebP but can't encode it, so the option is hidden rather than offered and silently failing.
Does converting to JPG or WebP lose quality?
Yes, both are lossy formats at less than 100% quality — the quality slider controls that tradeoff directly. PNG is lossless, so its quality slider has no effect (see the note above the slider).
