Image Resize & Compress
Resize by exact pixels or by percentage, and compress to a target quality — with real before/after numbers, not estimates.
Drag an image here, or choose a file (JPG, PNG, WebP)
File sizes shown are the actual encoded output measured after processing, not a rough estimate. Canvas export strips embedded metadata (EXIF, color profiles).
How to use this tool
- Drag in an image, or choose a file.
- Pick Pixels (exact width/height) or Percentage, and set your target size.
- Choose an output format and, for JPG/WebP, a quality level.
- Click "Resize & Compress," review the before/after numbers, then download.
Privacy
Your image is processed on an in-browser canvas and never uploaded.
Limitations
- PNG is lossless — its file size mostly follows from image content and dimensions, not the quality slider, which this tool disables for PNG output.
- Enlarging an image well beyond its original size (a large percentage) doesn't add real detail — it just stretches existing pixels.
- Canvas export strips embedded metadata (EXIF, color profiles) regardless of format.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing and compression both happen on an in-browser canvas — nothing is sent to a server.
Why doesn't the quality slider shrink my PNG much?
PNG is a lossless format — there's no quality-vs-size tradeoff to make the way there is with JPG or WebP. This tool disables the quality slider for PNG output and explains why, rather than pretending it does something.
Will resizing remove my photo's metadata?
Yes — exporting through a canvas normally strips embedded EXIF data and color profiles, whether or not you change the dimensions.
What happens if I type a width but leave height locked?
With "lock aspect ratio" on, height is calculated automatically from your width (or vice versa) so the photo never gets stretched or squashed.
